I recently found out that we are going to welcome Baby #3 to our family in mid April. We are all so very excited, especially my 3 1/2 year old son who is convinced it is a “brudder.” Oh, and his name will be, “Little Johnny.”
It never ceases to amaze me just how incredible being pregnant is. I am sure most of you have heard the saying, “No pregnancy is the same.” Umm… so true. Especially with baby #3. First of all the nausea is unreal. Two weeks ago from morning till night I was plagued with trying to keep my food down. Ugh. This never happened with my two pregnancies before… wish I would have gotten a head’s up “Little Johnny!”
My cravings have been ridiculous, may I just go through some of them with you…
1. Fruit cup doused in lime juice and salt with a side of tamales?
I recently took a small stay-cation and drove miles and miles from my house just to get some limey fruit goodness in my mouth. I was so hungry it hurt and when I went up to the counter to order I threw in two chicken tamales as well. I went home and scarfed everything down and then 10 minutes later wanted nothing to ever do again with fruit cups and tamales… so weird.
2. Chicken Ramen??
I watched the Ramen Girl with Brittany Murphey the other night and could not take my eyes off that glorious bowl of noodles she had the entire movie. I needed Ramen. After preparing my family dinner which consisted of turkey, mashed potatoes, and green peas… I waited for them to go upstairs so I could raid my pantry and dig up that old package of Ramen that’s been there for years. With the kids in bed, I ran to the bottom shelf of my pantry where I normally keep that orange package and… NOTHING!!! We were completely. out. of. Ramen. What?? This could not be happening, and thus began my first frantic craving that had to be fulfilled. As my husband was about to make a trip to the gas station around the corner, because all good food is found at the gas station right?? I text my organic, raw eating only neighbor in the hopes she too had one package saved over the years. Praise the Lord she did!! Apparently her husband had been shopping the last couple of times and snuck in some packages. So my craving was fulfilled and I want nothing to do with Ramen now.
3. Cheddar and Sour Cream Chips
These are delicious people. Really, go out and by some now and just savor the cheese and onion powder on every ruffled chip. You will thank me.
Yes, I just want a bologna sandwich with mayonnaise. No lettuce, no mustard… just bread, mayonnaise, bologna, more mayonnaise, and bread. Thank you.
Recently a friend of mine told me when she was pregnant all she wanted was Mountain Dew. She told her doctor this and he actually encouraged her to fulfill the craving, rather than withstand it. He said more times then none, once your body has what it craves it will move on. Resisting the craving just causes stress to you and ultimately your baby. I really have found this true for me this time around. I eat what I HAVE to have and then move on.
I am so thankful for this new little life, so thankful to carry another baby and cannot wait to meet another little Owen. I am 9 weeks pregnant and this little 1 1/2 inch person has already made such a profound impact in my life. I love you “Little Johnny…” ;)
