About a month ago I ran out of this amazing face wash: Natural Born Cosmetics Pathenol Cleanser. I have been using Natural Born Cosmetic cleansers for two years and my face has never been this healthy. It cleared me up and even helped with my oily skin.
I did a Facial cleanser video here. I go into more details on the importance of gentle cleansers. Well, I basically did not take my own advice and when I ran out of my cleanser I resorted to this quick fix:
Don’t ask me why I decided to use a man’s face wash, but I did. My husband had it laying around and besides the manly scent, it didn’t seem that bad. In fact, it was really sucking up any excess oil I had and I liked that.
Well not but a week later it SUCKED every ounce of oil from my face. I began to develop dry patches on my forehead and cheeks. The worst part was my poor eyelids has NO oil whatsoever. Oil is not all bad. Without it my skin felt awful, itchy, and began to develop wrinkles. I was flaking… ew. It was bad.
My normal face wash is free of all harsh chemicals like benzoyl peroxide and salicic acid. My face went into shock when I re-introduced it to my skin care. I started to use an oil cleansing method to clean my face as I waited for my cleanser to come in. That was also too much around my eyes and clogged my eye ducts. So this past weekend I suffered through a swollen, painful eye. (Swollen eye on the right, hence the glasses.)
So what is the point of this post? When you find a face wash that works, don’t change it!! Your skin is so delicate and needs to be treated gently. If you are using a cleanser with harsh chemicals and can’t seem to kick the dryness and blemishes, maybe its too harsh. Has this happened to any body else? What cleansers work for you?
